Literature Text

Born as angel in heaven
But fell out from the sky
My wings got black and heavy
I'm left on earth to die

Lest my life mean nothing,
Wither and fade away,
You found me one day,
And the black turned slightly gray.

I thought life on earth was hopeless,
But then you showed me light
Now I see the sun shine,
And the stars at night

Day seems a struggle, night a terror,
I want silence and peace,
But ne'r is such affair,
Faces and bodies pass by with naught a lingering stare.

But when I shiver, stumble, and fall...
There's someone there to catch me
Or to pick me up when it's gone wrong
They see me as an angel,
Not for where I've gone

We see the black upon your wings,
We do not cringe away,
We embrace what is hidden,
And love is our strength.
Others see the scars, curse and sneer 'weak'
They are loud but false and fear what they cannot beat.

Ours is a silent struggle, carried by many but understood by few.
Those who touch the angels wings share that burden gladly.
We carry until the black has burnt away, and our angels fly once again.

We can beat the unbeatable
To think of the unthinkable
Can it be true?
There's an angel there for everyone,
Even for you
